Chris Stevens Art- Home

Chris Stevens brings a varied career in the arts to her work. A popular jazz and blues singer whose performances with the Louis Prima band earned her international fame. She studied painting at the School of Fine Arts in Paris and in California. During her 10 years in France, where she performed musically in many different languages, she perfected her command of the brush as well.

Although, Chris has received numerous awards for her oils, acrylics, pastels, and watercolors in both Europe and the United States. While living in France, she was twice commissioned by CBS to paint portraits of her famous daughter (the stage and screen actress and recording star, Jeane Manson) for the use on the covers of her popular albums. Her work is in many private and public collections in Europe and the U.S., and two of her paintings are in the permanent collection of the French National Assembly building in Paris.

Chris Stevens has been widely noted in the art press in Europe. One newspaper in France reports “...her paintings reflect her sense of urban solitude, her tenderness for the people whose portraits she paints, the poetry of parks and gardens...and the flowers that she loves so much and whose essence she knows so well how to translate.” Her sensitive portraiture and luminous flowers, still-life's, and landscapes at various galleries amply bare-out the praise of the French critics.
